How to use the plywood weight calculator
- Use the actual panel dimensions and thickness.
- Enter quantity and the manufacturer’s stated density, or a density measured from a sample.
- Read the per-sheet and total mass; account separately for packaging and hardware.
The formula
Sheet weight (kg) = length × width × thickness (mm) ÷ 1,000,000,000 × density
Worked example
One 2440 × 1220 × 18 mm panel at 600 kg/m³ weighs about 32.15 kg. Three matching sheets weigh about 96.45 kg.
Before you measure and cut
Plywood construction and core species vary. MDF and other fiber panels can have substantially different densities.
Moisture, overlays, and coatings affect mass. A catalog weight for the exact product is preferable when available.

Can I use this for MDF?
Yes. Replace the density with the value for your MDF product.
Are nominal ¾ in sheets always 19.05 mm?
No. Nominal dimensions can differ from actual manufactured thickness. Measure or check the product specification.
